Cross-college collaboration is a unique strength of Michigan State that is built into the organizational structure of the university; this strength is particularly evident at the graduate education level, where a number of formally established interdisciplinary graduate programs exist.

A baccalaureate or a professional medical degree is a prerequisite for any student wishing to be admitted to a graduate program in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Admission requires departmental or graduate program approval. The departmental or graduate program admissions committee considers scholastic record, experience, pesonal qualifications, and area of interest in determining the applicant's acceptability. Support for graduate training is available on a competitive basis.
