Anesthesiology
Anesthesiology is the
medical specialty involved in the use of drugs to safely cause sedation
or loss of consciousness in patients to maximize the success of a
diagnostic or surgical procedure. This specialty is also responsible
for the management of pain throughout these procedures as well as pre-
and post-operatively.
The anesthesia section provides anesthesia and pain management support for all animals anesthetized at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The caseload in small animal varies from 10-20 cases per day while the case load in large animal is 2-4 animals per day.
