Student Health Insurance

As a medical student at Michigan State University, you are required to have health insurance, including mental health coverage.  The Financial Aid Budget for medical students includes the cost of health insurance.

All students in the College of Veterinary Medicine are automatically enrolled in the MSU Student Health Insurance Plan through a charge on their Fall and/or Spring tuition bill.  The charge for Fall and Spring can be found online (see below).  If you have other health insurance, you may request to waive the MSU plan on-line.  The waiver deadline is  September 30, 2006 for fall semester and by January 31, 2007 for spring semester.  You may visit the on-line waiver site at http://www.hr.msu.edu/HRsite/Benefits/Students/HealthCov/.   Please contact the MSU Benefits office for further details.

Enrolled students may also insure their eligible spouse and/or dependent children (residing with the insured).   Contact The Chickering Group directly at 1-800/859-8452 regarding coverage, enrollment or premium payment.

For questions concerning waiver processing or general information, contact the MSU Benefits office at (517) 353-4434, or 1-800/353-4434, or E-mail .  The Benefits Office is located at 1407 S.
