Preveterinary Program Coursework

MSU’s Preveterinary Program includes the following courses, which meets the College of Veterinary Medicine’s admission requirements listed in the DVM requirements of the Admission Section (internal link to CVM Admissions) of our website.

Completing these courses meet the minimum requirements for admission, significant coursework beyond the minimum is extremely beneficial preparation for the rigor of the medical science curriculum and its heavy credit loads.

Any current MSU student that is admitted to Michigan State University’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program without having completed a bachelor of science degree, BUT has completed all of the above stated courses is eligible for a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine (internal link to CVM’s DVM Academic Programs website that details BS in Vet Med) degree.


A PREVETERINARY MAJOR’S FIRST YEAR COURSE ENROLLMENT

 

 

New MSU students are required to attend and Academic Orientation Program (AOP) before enrolling in classes.  Prior to AOP you will take a mathematics placement exam.  Once at AOP you will meet with one of the preveterinary medicine academic advisors to discuss your first year’s course enrollment.  Factors such as math placement scores, ACT scores, high school coursework, advanced placement exams and transfer credits will be discuss and used to determine the best course enrollment for each individual student.
