Micaela earned her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science with a Cognate in Sociology and Concentration in Community Relations along with a Specialization in Chicano/Latino Studies from Michigan State University (MSU).

She spent 3 years working to increase college access in Detroit as a high school College Advisor with the MSU College Advising Corps and in Chicago, IL as the College Access Coordinator at the University of Illinois System reaching 15 high schools in urban Chicago and rural areas throughout the state of Illinois.

Micaela joined the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Office of Diversity and Inclusion in January 2018 as the Outreach and Retention Coordinator where she developed youth programs promoting the field of veterinary medicine and provided advising and retention services to undergraduate preveterinary students from underserved urban and rural communities.

She began graduate studies in 2020 and graduated with her Master of Arts in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education with a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Postsecondary Education in 2022. She then transitioned from the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity team to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Admissions team where she served as the Recruitment, Admissions, and Scholarship Counselor.

Micaela is now the Assistant Director of Admissions for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
