Sonia Honkisz graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine, in 2009. She completed a one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at VCA Aurora and VCA Berwyn in the Chicagoland area in June 2010. After completing the internship, she worked as a General Practitioner at VCA LaGrange Park from 2010-2012. In June 2012, Dr. Honkisz began a specialty internship in Medical Oncology at Purdue University where she also completed her Medical Oncology Residency (2013-2016). She finished the Residency Program and a Master’s degree in July 2016. Additionally, Dr. Sonia Honkisz performed an active role in multiple clinical trials during her residency.

Dr. Honkisz is currently an Assistant Professor in Oncology, Small Animal Clinical Sciences, at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University. She enjoys interacting with students and teaching students on the clinic floor.
