Dr. Katie Davis Mauro (DVM '14) recently returned to MSU, her alma mater, to join the faculty as an assistant professor of Emergency and Critical Care, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. The winner of the 2022 CVM Distinguished Veterinary Technology Alumni Award talks about the steps she's taken to get where she is today.

Dr. Dee Thornell (class of 1981) returned to campus last week to address the class of 2022 and accept an award at the CVM Awards Ceremony. This provided the perfect opportunity to talk with her about her time as a student and the experiences she’s had since graduating.

In 2019, Dr. Tesfaheywet Zeryehun Shiferaw came to MSU as part of the USDA Foreign Animal Service Faculty Exchange Program. Since completing the program, Dr. Tesfaheywet was promoted to full professor in Veterinary Clinical Pathology at Haramaya University. This makes Dr. Tesfaheywet the youngest professor in the history of Haramaya University.

Dr. Katherine Donahue, a graduate of the DVM Class of 1994, is a telehealth expert, and also works in small animal practice.

Dr. Jane Wall Lacher earned three degrees from Michigan State University: a bachelor of science degree in medical technology in 1975, a bachelor of science degree in poultry science in 1976, and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1979.

Dr. Kevin J. Stachowiak earned his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the College in 2000, and is the owner of Caseville Small Animal Clinic in Caseville, Michigan. Dr. Stachowiak currently sits on the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Tracie Uchima earned her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the College in 2009, and is currently practicing in the Los Angeles, CA area. Dr. Uchima is a mentor for the College's CVM Connect House Mentorship Program, which offers insight and advice to current veterinary students.

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the College features alumnus Nathaniel Lam, DVM, DACVS (SA).

In celebration of Black History Month, the College features Dr. Tracie E. Bunton, who was the College’s first Black female veterinary graduate.

As the College celebrates Women in Research this month, we recognize the many scientific contributions of our veterinary alumnae like Dr. Ann Donoghue!
