Kristina Anderson (DVM ’19)

Anderson has just become a diplomate of the ACVIM (Oncology). She is now practicing in the metro-Detroit area.

Emily Boccia (DVM ’22)

Boccia successfully completed a shelter medicine internship at Cornell University in June 2023 and started a new job with Massachusetts SPCA as a shelter and community medicine veterinarian in July 2023.

Dennis Chew (DVM ’72)

Chew received the 2024 Specialty Lifetime Achievement Award for small animal internal medicine from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). This award recognizes leaders in the profession who have demonstrated exceptional professional excellence, dedicated service, and profound expertise.

Pierre DePorre (DVM ’83)

DePorre is celebrating 18 years as a volunteer and university liaison for the College’s Mazunte Project in Oaxaca, Mexico.

William D. Kellner (DVM ’92)

Kellner achieved board certification from the American Veterinary Dental College.

Kamryn Kurtz (DVM ’19)

Kurtz was voted Best Local Veterinarian in Sarasota, Florida, by readers of the city’s SRQ magazine in their annual “Best of SRQ Local” competition.

S. Kathleen Salisbury (DVM ’79)

Salisbury has been appointed interim dean of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. A prominent leader, she has been recognized for developing a national and international veterinary education model, and she has been involved in every major curriculum revision in the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine. Her appointment began on July 1, 2024.

Colleen Turner (DVM ’01)

Turner has achieved diplomate status with the American Veterinary Dental College. She is currently practicing equine dentistry in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, and she just finished up her third summer as a member of the team of veterinarians who care for the horses on Mackinac Island.

Stephanie Valberg
(Former McPhail Dressage Chair)

Valberg has been recognized with a lifetime achievement award for large animal internal medicine (LAIM) by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). In a career spanning 30 years, she has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and 32 book chapters. Described by colleagues as a “guiding light,” she mentored countless veterinary professionals while at MSU.

Katherine Venet (DVM ’11)

Venet has just become a member of the American Veterinary Dental College.
