Hello, CVM Alumni and Friends-

From the MSU Alumni Reception at AVMA to the CVM Homecoming Tailgate to the Robert Leader Fall Welcome, we’ve had some great events since the last issue of INSIGHTS! Thank you to everyone who came out to these gatherings—they were great reminders that the College could not do the work we do without a supportive community, and as friends and alumni, you’re a crucial part of that.

This past July, while many of you were at AVMA, I attended the annual conference for the Association of Veterinary Advancement Professionals. Through both the alumni relations and communication tracks within the conference, I was able to learn from other professionals at veterinary schools across the globe. Topics within these tracks included building community on social media, making connections at conference receptions, and navigating leadership changes. I was impressed by many of the innovative ideas shared by my peers, and I am excited to incorporate some of them into our ongoing effort to strengthen our alumni community.

The session on navigating leadership changes was especially useful as the College welcomed a new dean! Having watched Dr. Dodd lead the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for the past several years, I have seen firsthand her dedication to fostering a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere here at MSU. I am excited for her to bring her exceptional leadership to new heights as she continues her work as dean to advance our College’s mission.

During this exciting time of change and growth at the College, your feedback and ideas are extremely valuable. Your perspective plays an important role in shaping the direction of our programs and initiatives. Whether you have a suggestion on alumni engagement, thoughts on enhancing student experiences, or questions about how to get more involved, we want to hear from you! Please reach out and help us continue the conversation of how our College can best cultivate a prepared and engaged community of veterinary professionals.

Speaking of our community, this issue of INSIGHTS showcases some outstanding achievements and contributions of the College’s alumni, faculty, and students. I hope you enjoy these wonderful Spartan stories.
