Fred J. Born (DVM ’62)

Born designed a historical display of the history of the AVMA for its 150th annual convention in Chicago. The design was built out by GES, a Chicago commercial display firm. Additionally, Born developed a PowerPoint presentation covering 150 years of veterinary medical history of the organization.

William Bowerman

(PhD, Fisheries and Wildlife – Environmental Toxicology ’93) Bowerman was recently named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Edward G. Brauer III (DVM ’20)

Brauer is one of the first veterinarians in the Upper Peninsula to perform the TPLO procedure, which he learned from Dr. Loïc Dejardin, in private practice. His expertise has helped him obtain several referrals from other veterinarians, and he has performed over 100 procedures since joining his father’s practice at Marquette Veterinary Clinic. Brauer also recently volunteered for several spays and neuters at Delta County Animal Shelter in Escanaba when the shelter obtained neglected animals that were rescued from a puppy mill situation.

Lawrence Herzog (DVM ’75)

In 2022, Herzog completed his 40th year of ownership of the Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic. He has been a licensed veterinarian for 47 years and continues to practice full time.

Mary Lindamood (DVM ’93)

Lindamood has received certification in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VSMT), as well as Traditional Chinese Veterinary Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Food Therapy.

Andi Davison Schachterle (LVT ’06)

Schachterle has recently joined Flourish Veterinary Consulting as a positive change agent. Flourish exists to apply the science of human thriving to veterinary organizations. She is thrilled to step into this role and become a wellbeing resource within the profession she knows and loves.

Ronald D. Smith (DVM ’67)

The fourth edition of Smith’s textbook, Veterinary Clinical Epidemiology, was published in the fall of 2019.

Alexander Strauch (DVM ’17)

After five years of serving the largest egg producer in Michigan, Strauch has expanded his scope of practice through the creation of his own veterinary consultancy company. Alexander Strauch Consulting (ASC) was formed in April 2022 with the vision to use an independent veterinary lens to create positive impact across multiple states, multiple countries, and multiple stakeholders.

Rashyra Watson (MS, Food Safety, ’19) Watson recently became employed by the State of Michigan as an investigator. Within six months, Watson was hired by the Food and Drug Administration as a Consumer Safety Officer in Imports. In this role, Watson investigates food, drugs, biological items, and cosmetics that cross the Detroit/ Canadian border.
