Because of our state-mandated role in protecting animal and human health through veterinary diagnostic services, clients can be assured that our methods and procedures are the most reliable and accurate available in the field of veterinary diagnostics. The MSU VDL is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) and we have been a leader in helping to establish compliance guidelines.

The management of the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is resolutely committed to the establishment and maintenance of quality assurance standards to ensure that procedures and documentation conducted at the facility are performed in compliance with AAVLD standards. This commitment is shared by all levels of management in Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The laboratory shall have a commitment to provide a high level of service, with sufficient input and feedback from clientele, staff, regulators, and others to warrant customer satisfaction.

We maintain a Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) dedicated to promoting accuracy and reliability. The objective of the QAU is to provide training and implementation of the MSU VDL Quality System to assure that conduct of procedures and documentation of results meet the standards required by the client and/or the appropriate regulatory agency.

For your convenience, a copy of our Quality Assurance Letter and Accreditation Certificate are available here for your clinic’s AAHA accreditation.
