Our Immunodiagnostics/Parasitology Section offers a variety of PCR and Indirect Fluorescent Antibody Titer (IFA) assays for detection of blood borne pathogens of dogs and cats. Most of our PCR assays detect organisms at the genus level, for example, Babesia spp are detected instead of a specific organism (Babesia canis canis). Our IFA assays provide an antibody titer; not just a positive or negative result.

Two standard canine blood donor test panels and one standard feline blood donor test panel are listed in our catalog.

The canine blood donor mini-panel (60996) includes a PCR assay for detection of Babesia spp. and IFA assays for detection of antibody against Ehrlichia canis, Babesia canis and Leishmania donovani/infantum. The canine blood donor super-panel (60998) includes PCR assays for Babesia spp., Mycoplasma haemocanis and haematoparvum, and Ehrlichia spp.; and IFA assays for Ehrlichia and Leishmania. Other assays that can be added include PCR and IFA assays for Anaplasma spp and Rickettsia spp, and a PCR assay for Bartonella spp.

Our standard feline blood donor test panel (60997) includes PCR assays for Bartonella spp and for Mycoplasma haemofelis, haemominutum, and turicensis. A PCR assay for feline leukemia virus and ELISAs for detection of antibody against feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus are available.

If a standard assay is not what you want, we will work with you to determine the specific assays you need.
