Nutrition is the science or study of food and nourishment. The MSU VDL Nutrition Laboratory provides support for the assessment of animal nutritional status. The aim is to help veterinarians diagnose metabolic- and nutritional-deficiency diseases and to help animal nutritionists and owners formulate optimal diets for healthy livestock and pets. Analytical services provided by the laboratory section include a wide variety of minerals, vitamins, other nutrients, and metabolites. These assays are performed on feeds, blood, blood sera, and animal tissues.
