Hunters wishing to have their deer tested for CWD can use a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) check station, self-service drop box, or processor. To find locations of drop boxes and check stations, please visit michigan.gov/deercheck.
Testing is performed by the MDNR Wildlife Disease Laboratory and the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, co-located at 4125 Beaumont Road, Lansing. The check stations closest to the Laboratory are the Lansing Customer Service Center (Check Station/24hr Drop Box) at 4166 Legacy Parkway, Lansing and the Rose Lake Field Office (Check Station/24hr Drop Box) at 8903 Stoll Road, East Lansing. Under certain circumstances, staff at the check station may instruct hunters to take their deer to the MDNR Wildlife Disease Laboratory. This is done by appointment only, and drop off times are limited to Monday-Friday 4:00-5:30 p.m.
