April 27, 2018 - The MSU VDL's Bacteriology Laboratory is now reporting new antimicrobial susceptibility panels for companion animals. These panels comply with current Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) veterinary antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) guidelines. Clients will now see separate Gram positive (GP) and Gram negative (GN) AST panels on reports.

In addition, new drugs have been added including:

- Pradofloxacin - Cefpodoxime
- Nitrofurantoin (GP panel only)
- Minocycline (GP panel only)
- Cephalexin (GN panel only)
- Piperacillin/tazobactam (GN panel only)
- Orbifloxacin (GN panel only)

An updated bovine/porcine panel will be available later this year.
