Effective April 16, 2021, the measurement of endogenous adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) will be performed using a different assay method (chemiluminescent immunometric assay). The previous assay method (radioimmunoassay) has been discontinued. EDTA plasma remains the required sample.
Endogenous ACTH concentrations will be reported in conventional units (pg/mL). The reference ranges in reports have been updated to reflect the change. To convert the result to the old units, multiply the pg/mL results by .222 to get pmol/L.
