December 7, 2023 – Due to a nationwide supply shortage, the MSU VDL will temporarily discontinue our Babesia gibsoni IFA assay (60046) effective immediately.

As a reminder, the Babesia gibsoni IFA detects previous exposure. For clinical cases where infection is suspected, our Babesia sp. PCR (60003) is available.

We are hopeful that supplies will become available from our vendors in the future and that we will be able to bring back the Babesia gibsoni IFA soon. We know that our clients and the patients entrusted to their care count on us for diagnostic results.
