The MSU Community Medicine program was made possible by the incredible generosity of our founding sponsors, including the BISSELL Pet Foundation and Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). However, to keep our wheels turning and our services 100% free of charge to Michigan animal welfare groups, we rely almost entirely on ongoing fundraising, private donations and sponsorships.

When you give to Community Medicine, you aren’t just funding a medical procedure; you are providing:

  • No-Cost Care: Removing the financial barrier for animal welfare organizations so they can focus their limited budgets on saving more animals.
  • Hands-On Education: Training veterinary students in high-quality, high-volume surgical techniques.
  • Community Impact: Reducing the overpopulation of homeless animals across the state of Michigan.

Every dollar goes directly toward the supplies and operations of our 32-foot mobile surgery unit. Whether it’s a one-time gift or a recurring monthly donation, your support makes a tangible difference:

  • Surgical Supplies: Gowns, gloves, suture, and sterile packs for our student surgeons and staff.
  • Life-Saving Medications: Anesthesia, pain management, and vaccines for every animal we treat.
  • The Mobile Unit: Maintenance and fuel to ensure we can reach the most underserved corners of Michigan.
