Assistant Professor of Anesthesia
Dr. Skelding did her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Agriculture) at the University of Guelph where she majored in animal science. After a 6-month period of working on a large dairy farm in London, she returned to the University of Guelph to complete a Master of Science degree in dairy genetics. Immediately following its completion, Dr. Skelding entered the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the Ontario Veterinary College and went on to pursue a rotating, small animal internship. Dr. Skelding returned to the Ontario Veterinary College in 2014 to pursue a residency in Anesthesiology and the associated Doctor of Veterinary Science degree. Dr. Skelding became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia directly after her residency program in June of 2018. For the next five years, Dr. Skelding has worked at an incredibly busy, multi-service small animal referral practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has also participated in equine research at the Ontario Veterinary College. Dr. Skelding joined the Anesthesiology Department at MSU CVM in January 2024.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Taylor's research interests include heat loss under general anesthesia, diagnostic imaging contrast reactions, and third degree atrioventricular block conversion. Her teaching and professional interests include equine anesthesia, thermoregulation, pregnancy, and neonates. She received the Equine Dentistry Proficiency Award at MSU in 2019, as well as a Merck Academic Excellence Award.

Technicians
Anesthesia Supervisor
Sarah started at the MSU Veterinary Medical Center in 2018, a graduate from the Veterinary Nursing program. Before assuming her current role, she was a Technician II in Anesthesia serving as the equipment manager, assisting in department organization as well as overseeing student workers.
Veterinary Technician Specialist
Kris is a veterinary technician specialist (anesthesia/analgesia), radiation oncology. Kris joined the MSU Radiation Oncology team in December of 2018. She is a graduate of the Michigan State University Veterinary Technology Program. She is a Charter (Founding) member and past president of the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia and Analgesia. She also holds a bachelor of science in anthropology (MSU) with a certification in museum studies and a bachelor of arts in telecommunications (MSU) with a specialty in digital media arts. Kris has completed training and is now recognized as a Fear-Free Certified Professional.
