Dr. Beal earned his DVM degree from MSU in 1996 and completed a rotating internship followed by a residency in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania from 1996-2000. Dr. Beal is a Diplomate (specialist) of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Beal returned to MSU in 2000 where he has worked to develop the Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Service into one of the premier programs in the country.
Assistant Professor

Dr. Johnson earned her DVM degree from Tufts University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a residency in critical care and emergency medicine, as well as a residency in veterinary microbiology residency, at Colorado State University. She earned a PhD in immunology from Colorado State University.
Assistant Professor of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine

Dr. Johnson is a 2015 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following completion of an internship after graduation, she worked in emergency medicine prior to completing her residency in emergency and critical care. She then worked in private practice for several years prior to joining Michigan State. She is a diplomate of the College of Emergency and Critical Care, and loves teaching and the case variety that her chosen field provides. In particular, her clinical interests include pancreatitis, sepsis, and trauma. As a researcher, she is interested in acute pancreatitis, blood products, and transfusion medicine.
Associate Professor of Emergency and Critical Care

Dr. Levy earned her DVM from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and also has a master's degree in immunobiology from Iowa State. She is a diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.
Assistant Professor of Emergency and Critical Care

Dr. Mauro's clinical, research, and scholarly interests include the application of extracorporeal therapies to critical care patients, kidney injury and intoxications, critical care nephrology and urology, sepsis, and mechanical ventilation. She has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents.

Emergency and Critical Care Resident

Dr. Chasnick is a resident with a special interest in a career in academia, with an emphasis in emergency and critical care medicine. Her primary research interest includes modern education reform and techniques of a flipped classroom.
