Dr. Katie Davis Mauro, DVM, DACVECC joined the College as an assistant professor (HP) of Emergency and Critical Care, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences on April 18, 2022.

Dr. Mauro earned her bachelor of science at the University of Illinois in Animal Sciences with a minor in chemistry. She then went on to earn her DVM from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and a residency in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, both at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also is a graduate of the UC Davis Virtual Hemodialysis Academy and completed a fellowship in Extracorporeal Therapies and Critical Care at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Mauro's most recent position was as an assistant professor of Extracorporeal Therapies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also was the chief of Extracorporeal Therapies for the University of Pennsylvania's Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Mauro's clinical, research, and scholarly interests include the application of extracorporeal therapies to critical care patients, kidney injury and intoxications, critical care nephrology and urology, sepsis, and mechanical ventilation. She has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents.
