Dr. Fowkes is an internationally recognized endocrinologist who is particularly interested in the study of endocrinopathies across species and endocrine-related cancers. Dr. Fowkes has been a leader in hormone signaling using a range of model systems in efforts to characterize mechanisms of endocrine disorders. Dr. Fowkes’ research accomplishments showcase the essential bridge between basic and clinical research. Dr. Fowkes’s professional reputation is also documented through his extensive publications (>50 peer-reviewed manuscripts), invited national and international presentations, and robust extramural funding record.

Dr. Fowkes has served on a number of committees for the Society for Endocrinology and The Endocrine Society, and as the co-chair of the Basic Science Outreach Advisory Group and the Research Affairs Core Committee. He has served on the Editorial Board for Nature Scientific Reports and Frontiers in Pituitary Endocrinology. Dr. Fowkes received his B.Sc. in Human Biology from Oxford Brookes University (1994), followed by a PhD in Reproductive Neuroendocrinology from the University of Bristol (1997). In 2008, he completed a three-year postgraduate certificate program at Kings College London specific for educators in clinical professions. Dr. Fowkes served as a faculty member at the Royal Veterinary College for 17 years, and served as associate dean for Postgraduate Learning & Teaching.
