The clinical phase of the DVM curriculum is divided into 19 rotation blocks with each rotation lasting three weeks in duration.
Students must complete the 8 college-required clerkships and 8-10 elective clerkships of their choosing. Of their elective clerkships, students may take up to 6 off-campus electives allowing them to travel to various practices and/or teaching hospitals to gain additional training in their area(s) of interest. Students are given the opportunity to rank on-campus electives available to them when creating their schedules, allowing them to tailor their clinical experience to areas in which they are interested or intend to practice upon graduation. Of the 19 rotation blocks, students may take up to three blocks as vacations during their clinical phase.
Below is a list of the College's required clerkships, as well as an abbreviated list of elective clerkships intended to showcase the variety of experiences veterinary students have available to them during the clinical phase of the DVM curriculum.
