The Enrichment Summer Program (ESP) provides three weeks of veterinary experience focused on leadership development, academic preparation, and career knowledge for undergraduate students who have selected veterinary medicine as their career choice.

The program focuses on developing passionate and qualified prospective students and is open to undergraduate students who plan to apply to professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program during the next application cycle.

All are welcome to apply and will receive equal opportunity to participate.

ESP is a three-week program held in June and hosted by Michigan State University. In 2026, the program will be hosted from June 1 to June 19.

• Week one (June 1-5) is focused on leadership development.
• Week two (June 8-12) offers introductory-level didactic coursework, including a hands-on anatomy laboratory.
• Week three (June 15-19) provides clinic shadowing from the Veterinary Medical Center.

• Completion of at least 75% of required prerequisites by the start of the program. Of those, science prerequisites must be completed with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
• Minimum of a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in the last 36 credits earned
• Intent to apply to a professional DVM program in the next Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) application cycle OR intent to complete remaining prerequisites by the end of spring 2026.

The free, online ESP application opens November 1 and closes February 6. All application materials must be received by February 6.
