CVM DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS
Be a part of this wonderful tradition of recognizing our outstanding alumni by nominating a peer who has made extraordinary contributions. The following awards are conferred annually:

REQUIREMENTS FOR AWARD NOMINEES
CVM Distinguished Veterinary Alumni – Practitioner and Non-Practitioner
Eligible candidates for the CVM Distinguished Veterinary Alumni Practitioner and Non-Practitioner Awards must have:
- Received the DVM degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University and be held in high esteem by his or her colleagues,
- and excelled in practice, teaching, research, service (local, regional, national, international), and/or organized veterinary medicine
CVM Distinguished Postdoctoral Alumni Award
Eligible candidates for the CVM Distinguished Postdoctoral Award must have:
- Received an MS or Ph.D. degree under the direction of a member of the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University,
- or Completed an internship or residency training program at the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine
CVM Distinguished Veterinary Nursing Alumni Award
Eligible candidates for the CVM Distinguished Veterinary Nursing Award must have:
- Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Nursing (formerly Technology) or a Certificate of Completion in Veterinary Technology from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine (includes the legacy Animal Health Technician Certificate from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources)
- and excelled in practice, teaching, research, service (local, regional, national, international), and/or organized veterinary medicine.
CVM Honorary Alumni Award
Eligible candidates for the CVM Honorary Alumni Award must have:
- Excelled in practice, teaching, research, service (local, regional, national, international), and/or organized veterinary medicine.

SELECTION AND PRESENTATION
Selection: The CVM Dean reviews the nominations and receives input from a committee to select awardee
Resubmission: Individuals nominated but not selected in the last three years will be automatically reconsidered during the current award cycle.
Presentation: Awards are presented annually in May at the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine
NOMINATION SUBMISSION
Only complete packages submitted by the deadline will be considered. Complete submission package must include:
- Nomination Form
- Cover Letter (no longer than 5 pages)
- Resume of Nominee
RECOMMENDATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
Detail the professional and public contributions, awards, honors, other recognitions, and specific achievements of the nominee in a cover letter NO LONGER THAN 5 PAGES
Additional supporting documentation is encouraged but not required. This may include letters of support from a variety of collaborators. Submission packages may also include optional additional letters of recommendation from colleagues, members of the community, etc.
