Spartans have an uncommon will to achieve impact for the common good. Here, access, opportunity and a relentlessly curious and collaborative culture fuel Michigan State’s excellence. And each gift — no matter the amount — has the ability to create a transformative impact that builds a far better world. At the College of Veterinary Medicine, that impact touches animals, people, and entire communities.

Fighting Disease on the Front Lines

In today’s rapidly changing landscape, the need for veterinary professionals—veterinarians, veterinary scientists, and veterinary nurses—is more urgent than ever, and we face a significant national shortage. In addition to our core mission to protect and promote animal health, our mission is evolving to address pressing challenges such as emerging infectious diseases, cancer, and food security. At MSU, our land-grant legacy drives our commitment to innovation through cutting-edge clinical care, collaborative research, and transformative education that equips our students to meet these challenges head-on. By forging strategic partnerships with state agencies and private organizations, we are developing creative solutions for underserved communities and building a resilient veterinary workforce. Our bold vision redefines veterinary medicine as a pivotal force in safeguarding public health and advancing innovation across multiple domains.

A Unique Cross-Disciplinary Environment Makes Animals and Humans Healthier

MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine is Michigan’s only veterinary school and boasts a robust research portfolio. Our campus is home to a rapidly expanding cross-disciplinary center of excellence for diagnosing and treating cancer, benefiting both human and animal patients. With collaborations spanning MSU’s Colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine, Natural Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Engineering, our scientific community is poised to achieve transformative One Health impact. Additionally, our world-renowned Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory performs over one million tests annually and leads Michigan’s response to high-consequence animal disease outbreaks. Meanwhile, our Veterinary Medical Center is a premier facility for primary, tertiary, and emergency care, serving small and large animals across the state and beyond. Our graduates and clinicians care for animals across the country, often converting even MSU’s most enthusiastic rivals into Spartan supporters by improving the lives of their beloved companion animals.

With your support, Spartans will create a far better world.
