Dr. Maike Krenz graduated from medical school at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany and trained in cardiology at the University of Münster. She then moved to the United States to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of South Alabama. As the next step in her training as a basic scientist, Dr. Krenz then moved to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Research Foundation. Subsequently, Dr. Krenz joined the faculty at the University of Missouri to start her own independent laboratory. Her research program focuses on signaling mechanisms in congenital heart disease, in particular cardiomyopathies and heart failure. She has also been heavily involved in Mizzou's preclinical medical curriculum including continuing quality improvement and faculty development efforts. At MSU, Dr. Krenz will serve as a Faculty Advocate to support the CVM’s teaching mission. In addition, she will be teaching both veterinary and human medicine students in the pre-clerkship phase of their training.
