  • MBA, Logistics Management, Michigan State University, 1992
  • PhD, Pharmacology/Toxicology, Michigan State University, 1998

Research Program

  • To investigate pathophysiological mechanisms of health effects caused by exposure to environmental and occupational air pollutants
  • Conduct translational studies to understand the mechanisms of airway injury and systemic responses induced by inhalation exposures to pathogens, toxicants and environmental pollutants, specifically how they might exacerbate and modify preexisting diseases with unique underlying inflammatory components.
  • Collaborate with atmospheric chemists, occupational hygienists, epidemiologists, nutritionists and health care providers to develop intervention strategies to mitigate the adverse health effects of environmental and occupational air pollutants

Current Investigation

  • Role of diet and metabolic susceptibility in adverse cardiopulmonary responses to air pollutant exposure
  • Mechanisms of airway immune responses to engineered nanomaterials
  • Asthma and allergy associated with agricultural and biogenic dusts
