Dr. Rice is an assistant professor (HP) of endocrinology for the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences.

Dr. Rice earned her bachelor of arts at the University of Michigan, majoring in Psychology (’90). She later went on to earn her DVM from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine (‘97). After an internship, she returned to MSU for a residency in small animal internal medicine. She completed a Graduate Diploma in Western Veterinary Herbal Medicine and is certified by the International Association of Animal Hospice/Palliative Care and by the College of Integrative Medicine in Natural Animal Nutrition. Following internal medicine positions at Ann Arbor Animal Hospital, Ann Arbor Emergency Clinic, Ann Arbor Cat Clinic, and as a proprietor at Mobile Veterinary Internal Medicine Services, she joined Oakland Veterinary Referral Services as a staff internist, where she has practiced for the last 20 years.

Within the Endocrinology Section of the College of Veterinary Medicine, she works alongside the endocrinologists to provide support for diagnostic testing, including interpretation of test results and phone consultation services. Within Small Animal Clinical Sciences, she contributes to pre-clinical teaching in internal medicine and engages in collaborative research projects.
