Many students with mentors from the College of Veterinary Medicine participated in this year’s University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) on April 17, presenting research that reflects the breadth and impact of work taking place across both the College and the university. Below is a list of students who placed and participated in the event, along with their faculty mentors.
Suhaylah Ahmad Ali, in the Gorgoglione Lab; first-place award for her poster: Discovering Saprolegnia spp, Diversity in the Great Lakes Region
Madison Cole, mentored by Dalen Agnew and Anneke Moresco; first-place award for her poster: Microscopic Patterns of Menopause-Like Aging in Orangutan Ovaries
Jessica Rowe, in the Gomes Lab; first-place oral presentation: Uterine Artery Perivascular Adipose Tissue Expansion and Impaired Vascular Remodeling in a Mouse Model of Obesity and Superimposed Preeclampsia. Her abstract was also selected as an abstract of distinction at the American Physiological Society Summit.
Emma Horne, mentored by Jane Manfredi, Sarah Shull, and András Komaromy; awarded for: A Combined Submaximal and Maximal Exercise Fitness Test to Assess Conditioning in Beagles
Nelli Gaspar, mentored by Kurt Zinn; awarded for: How do Different Human Infant Gut Microbiomes Influence Exploration, Memory, and Response to Novelty in Both Social and Non-Social Contexts in Mice?
