Dr. Chuck Wiedmeyer, Senior Director of Pathology at Charles River Labs in Mattawan, Michigan, will deliver the keynote address at the 34th annual MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Phi Zeta Research Day on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 12:15 p.m., in G 150.
Wiedmeyer, an accomplished pathologist and leader, is an active and committed teacher and mentor. He served for 18 years on the faculty at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, where he mentored trainees of all levels in pathology and developed his leadership skills.
During his tenure at the University of Missouri, Dr. Wiedmeyer attended the Veterinary Leadership Institute training program and shortly thereafter became a facilitator for veterinary faculty, professionals, and students even, more recently, first year veterinary students at Michigan State. Dr Wiedmeyer’ s leadership training led him to entrepreneurial pursuits starting a clinical pathology laboratory from scratch and operating the business for over 10 years. Always seeking challenges, Dr Wiedmeyer left the confines of academia, sold the business and joined Charles River Labs in 2019.
While at Charles River, Dr. Wiedmeyer has become deeply involved both locally and globally within the company, leads an onsite leadership development course for Frontline Leaders and continues to mentor and train early career pathologists.
Wiedmeyer earned his DVM and PhD at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
