The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) announced its annual awards recognizing members who are dairy professionals or students for outstanding achievements. Six of the 2025 award recipients are affiliated with Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

• Adam Lock, PhD, interim chair of Large Animal Clinical Sciences – Nutrition Professionals Inc. Applied Dairy Nutrition Award, which “recognizes outstanding achievement in research, teaching, extension, or industry in applied dairy nutrition.”
• Andres Contreras, DVM, PhD, professor of Large Animal Clinical Sciences – Zoetis Physiology Award, which “recognizes outstanding research in dairy cattle physiology.”
• Pamela Ruegg, DVM, MPVM, David J. Ellis Chair in Antimicrobial Resistance – 2025 ADSA Fellow Award, which “recognizes Dairy Foods division and Production division members of ADSA who have rendered distinguished service to the dairy industry over 20 years or more.”
• Hannah Carlson, DVM class of 2028 – ADSA Foundation Graduate Student Literature Review Award: Production Division (MS), which “recognizes graduate students who have composed in-depth and extensive literature reviews in their thesis or dissertation and allow for these papers to be published in the Journal of Dairy Science® as review papers, making them available as references for citations in original research papers.”

The ADSA Midwest Scholar Award recognizes PhD students or recent graduates from the Midwest as part of ADSA’s Young Scholars Program. The aim of the program is to uplift student achievements in a variety of disciplines by inviting them to present their research, and awarding participants.
