Dr. Sean Crosson

Two professors at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine were recognized at the 2026 All-University Awards, a ceremony to celebrate the outstanding work of Spartan faculty, administrators, academic staff, and graduate assistants.

Dr. Sean Crosson, Rudolph Hugh Endowed Professor at the College of Natural Science and College of Veterinary Medicine; Department of Microbiology, Genetics, and Immunology, was awarded the William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award. Honorees were selected for their “comprehensive and sustained record of scholarly excellence in research and/or creative activities, instruction, and outreach.”

Crosson’s research has advanced scientific understanding of pathogens belonging to the Brucella genus, which causes deadly disease in livestock, wildlife, and humans. He previously received the 2024 Zoetis Award for Research Excellence.

Dr. Mike Scott

Dr. Mike Scott, professor emeritus in the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation, was given the Faculty Emeriti Association Award, which recognizes Emeriti faculty who have continued to serve the Spartan community after retirement.

Throughout his career and into retirement, Scott has supported graduate education and advanced training programming, helped to reshape curriculum, mentored many in clinical pathology, provided diagnostic support for countless patients, and published/presented research innovations. He has been awarded the Merial Innovative Partnership in Teaching Award and the SAVMA Excellence in Teaching Award.
