At this year’s AVMA Convention, alum Bruce Francke (DVM ’91) turned his love for painting into a substantial contribution to a great cause. Francke, along with fellow alum Deanna Rendel (DVM ’91) and several other veterinary professionals, donated several paintings to AVMA’s first annual VetArtNow Charity Art Auction for The Street Dog Coalition.
The auction, plus matching funds from Hill's Pet Nutrition, raised over $25,000 for The Street Dog Coalition, an organization that provides free veterinary care and related services to pets of people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. The triptych panel project pictured below was sold to the AVMA to commemorate the first annual auction. The artists have already received an invitation to do a second charity art auction at the AVMA Convention next year to benefit the American Veterinary Medical Foundation.
Francke currently works as a veterinarian and partner at Bay Animal Hospital and serves on the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Advisory Council. Check out his works of art below!
