Dr. Robert Sanders joined the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences on December 17, 2007, as an assistant professor of cardiology.

He earned his DVM from Michigan State University in 2000. After a year in private practice general medicine he began a two-year cardiology fellowship at MSU. Following that he completed a cardiology residency and earned a master’s degree at Purdue University in 2006. He was board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2006. Most recently, he worked in a private specialty practice and at the University of Illinois – Champaign-Urbana.

His clinical interests are the evaluation and treatment of arrhythmias and minimally invasive repair of congenital cardiac lesions (including patent ductus arteriosus, pulmonic stenosis and atrial septal defects). He is interested in arrhythmias as a research subject.
