MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine is one of the top-ranked veterinary colleges in the nation, offering a rich learning environment that integrates academic and clinical teaching. We offer Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and graduate programs, a residency program, a veterinary technician program, and specialty continuing education for practicing veterinarians. Post-Graduate Education

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The DVM program provides a broad education in veterinary medicine in an environment that develops analytic thinking and provides clinical experience.

Residency Program. Veterinary graduates receive in-depth training in specific areas of veterinary medicine in preparation for specialty board examinations.

Dual Degrees. The Department offers several dual degree opportunities, including the Online MS in Food Safety, a DVM-MS degree, and a DVM-PhD degree.

Online Master of Science in Food Safety. The Master of Science in Food Safety students are trained in biosecurity, food safety, animal science, quality control, risk management, field epidemiology, disease control, risk communication and animal welfare.

Undergraduate Education

Preveterinary Medicine. Students interested in a career in veterinary medicine may designate this as their major preference.

Veterinary Scholars. The Veterinary Scholars Admissions Pathway provides an admission avenue for MSU Honors College students into the veterinary program.

Veterinary Nursing Program. Degree and certificate programs are a BS in Veterinary Nursing and a Certificate of Completion in Veterinary Nursing.

Enrichment Summer Program. The College offers this summer program for students interested in exploring career possibilities in veterinary medicine.

Additional Educational Opportunities

Food System Fellowship Program. This Program is a unique partnership between the College and industry partners who are interested in ensuring the supply of well-trained veterinarians to work within the food animal industry.
