Member of Class of '14 wins first place in food animal category
The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) has announced the winners of the ABVP 23rd Annual Student Case Report Contest. Recent alumna Katherine O'Connor, DVM ('14), placed first in the food animal category with the case titled "Management of egg binding in a call duck (anas platyrhynchos)." O'Connor will be presented with the honor at the 2014 ABVP Symposium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Students in all areas of veterinary medicine and surgery compete in the annual ABVP contest. Candidates are evaluated on diagnostic workups as well as medical or surgical management, a clear demonstration of veterinary expertise, the application of sound medical principles in diagnosis and treatment, and the communication of medical observations and data. Submissions are reviewed using the same guidelines as those used to evaluate actual ABVP applicants and demonstrate the excellent work of the winners.
