The LCOR is a multidisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to applied basic science research of the musculoskeletal system of humans and animals.

“Kurt is a well-respected musculoskeletal researcher in both veterinary and human medicine and brings a high-level of expertise in the molecular aspects of orthopaedic trauma and disease,” said Dr. Steven Arnoczky, Wade O. Brinker Endowed Professor of Surgery and director of the LCOR. “His presence in the lab will not only significantly enhance the university’s reputation in musculoskeletal research but also increase research opportunities for graduate students and residents in both veterinary and human orthopaedic surgery here at MSU. We feel fortunate to have someone of Kurt’s scholarly caliber joining the LCOR research team.”

Hankenson came to MSU from the University of Pennsylvania where he was the first Dean W. Richardson Endowed Chair in Equine Disease Research at the School of Veterinary Medicine and an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery in the School of Medicine.

Hankenson holds associate professor appointments in the MSU Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies at the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Physiology in the College of Natural Sciences, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
