The 2014-2015 fiscal year, which ended on June 30, saw the MSU Veterinary Medical Center caseload grow by 10%, and as we reach the peak of summer, we are delighted to welcome two new staff members. Dr. Kari Beer has joined our Emergency and Critical Care Medicine team, while our Internal Medicine team welcomes Dr. Pedro Bento.

I am also excited to report that our “new” linear accelerator is up and running. We are continually looking at how our facilities can best serve the patients that you refer. Our infrastructure development plan is under way, and I intend to have a full update by the end of year on the details of our development goals for the next five years, including felines-only waiting rooms and a feline ward.

We will also be working with local veterinary medical associations to bring more continuing education events onto our schedule over the fall and winter months.

I’ll be back out in September to visit our referring DVM community. Until then, please enjoy this edition of Spartan Veterinary News where we focus on the cancer treatment of a seven-year-old Labrador cross from Israel and the treatment of a very ill camel.

Best wishes,

Chris Gray
