The CVM community welcomes Birgit Puschner, the College’s new dean.

Prior to coming to MSU, Puschner was professor and chair of the Department of Molecular Biosciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine at University of California, Davis. She joined the UC Davis faculty after completing her residency in veterinary toxicology in 1999. She received her doctorate of veterinary medicine and PhD from Tiermedizinische Fakultat, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat Munchen, Germany and completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the University of Michigan School of Medicine.

“I am excited to join the College of Veterinary Medicine at MSU as your new dean,” says Puschner. “The College is, as you well know, renowned for its professional and graduate education, clinical and outreach services, and research. Many of my colleagues, after hearing about my new position, have called MSU one of the top veterinary programs.”

Puschner has a true passion for teaching, research, and working with faculty to promote excellence in veterinary education and the profession.

“This excellence is accomplished because of students, staff, faculty, and alumni,” she says. “I sensed the energy, collegiality, and dedication to CVM’s mission during my visit and I am honored to join this dedicated group in continuing to move the veterinary profession forward.”
