Every summer, the interns and residents at the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine check off a milestone: a year completed in their programs.
For residents, they may be simply finishing the first or second year of a three-year program, but third-year residents and interns (who's program lasts only one year) celebrate the completion of a tremendous period of learning and growing as early-career veterinarians.
Both interns and residents have completed their veterinary degrees, and have chosen to return to a learning environment for on-the-job training toward a specialty area of medicine, such as cardiology or neurology, or in research. Internships are often, but not always, pursued on the path to residencies, which are highly specialized and often are the final step before board certification in a particular area.
This year, the College of Veterinary Medicine honors 26 interns and residents who have completed their programs. Congratulations to these veterinarians!
