Dr. Rebecca Smedley, pathologist and biopsy service coordinator at the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, is putting on her dancing shoes for charity.
Care Free Medical, a patient-centered medical home in Lansing, will be hosting its 9th annual “Dancing with the Local Stars” fundraiser on Friday, May 10, 2019. Smedley is one of 10 local stars who will be performing at the benefit.
Smedley has been training with instructor Stephane Awuro of Spartan Dance and Fitness Center since January. In addition to the live competition, the public can vote for their favorite celebrity online in advance. The celebrity with the most votes will be awarded the Community Choice Award at the event. The cost is $5 per vote and benefits Care Free Medical.
Care Free Medical provides quality and compassionate medical, dental, and optometry services to people with limited access to the health care system. They have provided more than 50,000 visits to the uninsured or under-insured in the Lansing community. Care Free Medical provides more than 10,000 office visits annually in the medical clinic alone.
Smedley is currently one of the leaders in the online voting. You can help her win the Community Choice Award, and support Care Free Medical, by voting before the event on May 10. If you would like tickets to the event, send her an email (smedley1@msu.edu).
