On April 17, the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine kicked off its new house system with a sorting ceremony for current students, faculty, and staff.

Proposed by the College’s Wellness Working Group this fall, the house system is part of a College-wide wellness initiative to foster relationships, provide mentoring, and build leadership skills.

During the sorting ceremony, individuals were divided into four houses by pulling an animal-shaped stress ball out of Mootilda, a simulation model for the College. The four houses will engage in friendly competitions throughout the year starting next fall. The goal is to provide incoming students with a built-in support system and foster relationships between students in different classes and career paths.
