Dr. Paul and Susan Bloom are two dedicated supporters of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Paul, who earned his DVM from MSU in 1976, and Susan, who graduated from the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in 1975, believe that every student deserves the opportunity to graduate with as little debt as possible. This year, they provided scholarships to 140 students, which will have a significant impact for many.
As recipients of the 2019 CVM Philanthropist of the Year Award, the College celebrated the Bloom’s support during its 2019 Celebration of Generosity Event, along with the video and article below.
The College recognizes the extraordinary and continued support of our students through these new scholarships from Paul and Susan Bloom.
Paul and Susan Bloom: 2019 Philanthropists of the Year
At the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine's Celebration of Generosity dinner, Paul and Susan Bloom were recognized as the College's 2019 Philanthropists of the Year. Considering the extent and variety of the Bloom's giving to the College, it is easy to see why they received this honor.
Following are some of the ways the Blooms are making a difference:
- Paul’s mentoring of dermatology residents, both at his clinic and at MSU’s Veterinary Medical Center
- The Frances Melman Fisher Scholarship, established in memory of Paul’s mother
- The Bloom Fund for Large Companion Animals, helping provide care for the largest four-legged family members
- A new CT table, allowing hospital patients to benefit from the latest imaging technology
- The Bloom Equine Residents, bringing newly-graduated DVMs to MSU to specialize under the guidance of College faculty
- A planned gift providing funding in perpetuity for a professorship, as well as a residency in Dermatology and two residencies in Large Animal Clinical Sciences
The strength of the College comes from those who are dedicated to helping accomplish its mission: Learn. Discover. Heal. Protect.
Paul and Susan Bloom are committed to helping the College achieve its mission in every way. With their support and the support of others, who share their passion, the College will continue to be a leader in veterinary medicine.
