Guitarist Vet Rap

The talent of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine students, faculty, staff, and alumni recently was put on display at the 30th Annual Vet Rap Variety Show.

Organized by the students, the Variety Show welcomes participants from the College community. It’s a fun, relaxing, and entertaining way for classmates and colleagues to share their talents with one another.

The acts range from art and dancing to musical composition and comedy. This year, attendees enjoyed performances by bands, singers, instrumentalists, beat boxers, comedians, and aerial silk performers.

As is tradition, the show opened with a performance by the popular band, Fatal Plus, featuring lead singer Dr. Jon Patterson. The band performed a rendition of “Love Shack” that told the story of “Jack Jack,” the dog with anal sac problems and other issues.

The band also gave a clever delivery about the curriculum reinvention to the tune of “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash. Lyrics to the chorus begged the question, “What Will Stay and What Will Go?”

The rendition included lines such as, “It’s based on competencies and learner-centered it will be,” and “Decide what students gotta know; what will stay and what will go?”

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni enjoyed the show and look forward to the 31st annual Vet Rap Variety Show next year.

The 2018 Vet Rap Committee would like to thank all the performers and everyone who came out to support the veterinary arts.
