Michigan State University's Online Food Safety Program has been educating food safety leaders since 2002. The Program is ever-evolving and now consists of the Online Master's in Food Safety degree, an online food safety certificate, on-campus executive education program,
and continuing education courses. Recently, the Program upgraded the certificate to be transcriptable, which consists of a twelve-credit option for mid-career and mid-management professionals not interested in a full graduate degree.
"Over the years, we saw a growing need for a non-degree option for working professionals. Many food safety professionals seek a deeper understanding of current food safety issues, but may not have the need or time to pursue a full degree. With this official, transcriptable certificate, students can gain this important graduate-level knowledge to advance in the workplace," says Dr. Patty Weber, director of the MSU Online Food Safety Program and assistant professor for the College's Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.
