Dr. Emery joined MSU as an assistant professor (HP) of primary care medicine with the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences on August 9, 2021. Dr. Emery earned his bachelor of science degree at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worchester, MA, where he majored in biochemistry. He then went on to earn his DVM from MSU in 2010. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Emery volunteered for the Peace Corps in Zambia, Africa. During his time there, he organized and conducted AIDS and sanitation lectures, supported the community with water sanitation by building wells, and guided local communities on the importance of inoculations. As a veterinary student at MSU, Dr. Emery worked as a student assistant with the ERCC (formerly NCU/CCU) and digital radiography and served as class president.

Dr. Emery has more than 10 years of experience as a veterinarian ranging from commercial veterinary hospitals, private practice, and with the Michigan Humane Society. His most recent role was as the supervising veterinarian for the Rochester Hills Michigan Humane Society veterinary clinic. He has a strong passion for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents.
