Professor Ray Geor, current chair of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Large Animal Sciences, will join the College of Sciences at New Zealand's Massey University's in March, 2015. He will replace the current pro vice-chancellor of the college, who is retiring later this year.
"Dr. Geor has served MSU well, and we are grateful for what he has accomplished since joining us in 2008," said John Baker, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. "I am certain the Massey University College of Sciences will benefit from his leadership."
Geor earned his veterinary degree from Massey University in 1983 and his PhD from The Ohio State University in 1999. Before coming to MSU in 2008, Geor held faculty appointments at Virginia Tech, University of Guelph, and University of Minnesota.
"I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and students in the department and college over the last six-plus years and will forever be grateful for the support I have received in working to shape the department," Geor said. "In the face of some challenging economic circumstances, I am proud of the department's accomplishment in teaching, advising, research, and outreach."
