It is with great sadness that we share the news that our friend and former professor Dr. Robert G. Schirmer, Sr. passed away on October 16, 2014. He was 89.

Dr. Schirmer was a long-time faculty member in the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences and chair of the department from 1979 to 1987. A recipient of the college's Distinguished Faculty Award in 1990, Dr. Schirmer was committed to the education of future veterinarians, and established the Robert G. Schirmer Post-Doctoral Fellowship to support students in either Large or Small Animal Clinical Sciences.

The funeral service will be held Friday, October 24, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, 4650 N. Meridian Road, Williamston, MI 48895. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, October 23, 5-7 p.m.
