MSU VMC welcomes two new hospital hires

Pedro Bento, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM) joins the Internal Medicine team. Bento obtained his DVM and Master’s degree from Escola Universitaria Vasco da Gama (College of Veterinary Medicine) in Portugal. After a year in private practice, he moved to the United States to complete an internship at Washington State University and then stayed as a Community Practice Clinician. In 2012, he moved to NY to complete a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University and has achieved board certification through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2015. His research focused on the relationship between
bodyweight, age, and ultrasound determined adrenal gland thickness in dogs with nonadrenal illness. During his training, he had the opportunity to do classroom teaching and to sit in on teaching-focused courses.

Dr.-Beer

Kari Santoro Beer, DVM, DACVECC, joins the Emergency and Critical Care Medicine team. She earned her DVM from Michigan State University and held a post-graduate internship and residency at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital, University of Pennsylvania. In 2013, she earned a specialty certification from the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. A recipient of various awards, honors, and distinctions, Dr. Santoro Beer has classroom and invited lecture experience in addition to her many publications and committee service.
